National Wear Red Day® is the first Friday in February. Wear red and encourage others to do the same. Help raise awareness that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. and is largely preventable.

Kids Heart Challenge
The last day of the semester is today, January 20th. This is a scheduled 1/2 day for all Saranac students. High school dismissal is at 10:55 am; Elementary dismissal is at 11:00 am.

The salmon eggs have arrived. The past few years students in Mrs. Thomas's 4th grade class spend the year learning the Scientific Method as they study and learn about salmon eggs. Students are responsible for the care of the eggs throughout the winter. Then in the spring they release them in the Grand River to help repopulate our rivers.
The elementary book fair family night will close at 5:00 tonight due to the weather.
Please check out the sign ups for 3rd - 8th grade boys basketball. The 3rd grade sign-up was sent home a few weeks ago and the 4th - 8th was sent home on Friday.
This morning we had two assemblies to celebrate our students that have earned the H.E.A.R.T Hero Award, or participated in fall school activities. It was uplifting to see all of the kids so involved in our community.

Parents can go out to https://www.familyportal.cloud and set up an account to be able to access their student's lunch balance information and their purchase history.
With setting up the account you will need the student's id #. You kind find your student number on the Skyward Parent portal on our website .
You will be able to make payments there as well, but it is currently still not working.
We are kicking off our first elementary school fundraiser since the Fall of 2019! Please consider donating to our school so we can continue providing the necessary enrichments for our students.
Once your student has collected the money, please return it to your child’s teacher. Once we begin receiving the donations, students will be entered into daily drawings. Students will have more opportunities to win the earlier these donations are returned.
All donation forms and money must be returned to the school by October 7th.
The LAST FFA apple sale is Tuesday, October 4 at 3-4pm in the SW parking lot by the red trailer. Jonagolds are big and beautiful, & wonderful for baking. 20# for $15 and 10# for $7.50. If you need to make different arrangements, contact Susann Young at youngsus@scs-staff.org

JSH Parents: our Meal Magic software is currently not allowing online payments. Tech/Food Service are working to resolve this. In the meantime, students may bring cash/check to the JSH office and we will load it onto students' accounts. Thank you for your patience.
Tomorrow is the first day of school! We cannot wait to see all of our students and start fresh for a new year!

Instruction begins at 7:45
Dismissal at 11:00
A few drop off line reminders:
Please be courteous in the drop off lines. If you have a student that is new or needs extra time to exit the vehicle, park in the lot so we can keep the line moving.
Pull as far forward as possible. Our goal is to have 5 vehicles unloading at a time.
Follow the directions of our crossing guard.
Do not block the road leading to the bus garage.
Be patient. That first week will be slow. Plan on needing some extra time. Our priority is safety.
