Due to ongoing construction, our elementary open house will be scheduled after the first day of school. This change will give our teachers the time they need to finalize their classroom preparations.
First Day of School: Monday, August 31st, 7:45 AM – 11:00 AM.
Kindergarten Opening Day: Monday, August 31st. Parents may accompany their child into the classroom from 8:00 AM to 8:25 AM before students finish the rest of the school day.
Elementary Open House: Wednesday, September 2nd, 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Families can tour summer construction progress and bring shared classroom supplies like Kleenex and Clorox wipes.
We are excited to have families visit the school and check out all of the construction progress that has taken place throughout the summer. The building will remain under construction throughout the upcoming school year, with completion next July.

Students at Saranac Elementary are participating in the mileage club this spring. Students who walk, jog, or run are earning prizes. The mileage club is completed during their time in PE (dependent on weather). Students are also allowed to walk or jog with an adult that can record their miles at home. Parents/guardians, please email me at
twernette@saranacschools.org to let me know how many miles your student walked or jogged. Every five miles your child will earn prizes! If your student gets to 20 miles they earn a free water bottle. This is a great but simple activity that promotes healthy lifestyles.
May 16 and May 23 the track will be open from 10:00am-11:00am for students to walk, jog, or run at the track. I will be there with all the mileage cards so students can earn more miles.
If you plan on attending on a Saturday morning, please make sure your child is attending with an adult and not alone. The mileage club will conclude on May 23.
