Our favorite month of the year starts on Friday. During March, we celebrate reading. Reading is a tool that opens doors for our students. This year, our theme is "For the Love of Reading!"
Below is our calendar with most of our activities for the month. We do have a few surprises for our students throughout the month.

Thank you for being so supportive of the Ionia County Relay for Life! Our school raised nearly $400! Ms. Reed's class raised the most money and will receive a pizza party. On TUESDAY, our school will wear purple as part of our support for the Purple Out basketball games.
Monday, February 5th is girls’ youth night. All youth girls’ basketball players are invited to attend the JV and Varsity girls’ games to cheer on the teams. During halftime of the JV game, players can shoot baskets while the varsity team rebounds for them. For the varsity game, all youth players will sit in a special section behind the varsity bench.
Immediately after the game, the varsity team will be in the cafeteria to greet all youth players and autograph team posters for youth players.
We are looking for a volunteer ticket taker for todays' wrestling match from 4:20 PM to approximately 6:30 PM. This match will include youth and varsity wrestlers. Contact Andrew Clementz at 642-1100 or clementzand@scs-staff.org. Thank you!
SCS will hold school with a two-hour delay today, Wednesday, January 24th. There will be no AM Career Center. The JSH will start at 9:40 AM and the elementary will start at 9:45 AM. Drive safely!

Saranac Community Schools is currently looking for substitutes to work in our elementary building for both teaching and paraprofessional positions. A current position of need is a long-term paraprofessional sub in the elementary. Thank you to Mrs. Peterson for her successful 4th-grade performance on Monday evening. The opening act was performed by our 6th-grade choir students. It was a very festive evening that showcased a lot of hard work!
Thank you to the Knights of Columbus from St. Anthony's Church for the generous donation of winter coats. They donated 24 coats to students who are in need this winter.
Our community is excellent and supports our students. We consistently receive donations such as these from generous community members and organizations.
If you have a child that does not have a winter coat, have them stop by the office. No kid should go without a warm jacket in the winter.
Check out what our 5th graders created with Legos in our STEAM Room! 6 teams of students each made a portion of this project and then puzzled it together to create this masterpiece. This is an example of using teamwork to achieve a goal!
We are always looking for Substitute teachers to help cover classrooms! Our ESS system is running a special promotion to help cover those extra seasonal costs.
CETUSA is looking to place an exchange student who is already living here in the area. Aly, from Spain, is an active student who loves playing basketball and is eagerly hoping to participate on the high school team. She also plays the clarinet and enjoys being in the band. Aly is in need of a new host family in a new district. She is extremely helpful around the house, is self driven, and would do well both with or without host siblings.

We started our morning with our Homecoming Pep Assembly at the High School football field! The festivities begin with the parade at 5:30, the tailgate at 6:00, and kickoff at 7:00.
