2021 Summer Tutoring - Currently, we are able to offer in person and virtual tutoring for your student to practice math and/or reading skills throughout the month of July. Tutoring sessions would range from 30-120 minutes per session and would happen 1-3 times per week depending on the schedule you arrange with the assigned tutor. This tutoring is FREE of charge (thanks to the Saranac Education Foundation). How do I register my child? Parents complete the registration slip below. Please send this back to school by May 14 in order to reserve a spot. If you are not interested in tutoring or unable to participate, please return the registration form to school so we can gather information to possibly enhance the program. Some tutors can be flexible with dates and times. After we receive the registration slip, students will be assigned a tutor. That tutor will contact the parent to set up days and times for tutoring, including adjustments for vacations, etc. Tutoring begins the week of July 5 and is in session for four weeks, unless arranged differently with your child’s tutor. Parents are responsible to make sure their student(s) attends scheduled sessions online or in person. If they cannot attend for some reason, parents should contact the tutor directly to reschedule. The tutors are scheduling their hours for the week and depend on everyone being on time. Of course in emergencies, just contact your tutor. For virtual sessions, if a student is more than 10 minutes late to the session, the session will be canceled. If 2 sessions are missed, virtual or in person, without contacting the tutor, the parent will have to pay $25 to continue tutoring. If you have any questions regarding tutoring, please contact the school at 642-1200 or Mrs. McPherson at mcphersondor@scs-staff.org. Thank you for this opportunity to work together with your child.

Tom Westbrook is our volunteer photographer who attends most all extra-curricular events, at home or on the road. When news broke of a broken lens the students, parents, and community members worked together to help. During halftime of the basketball game Wednesday evening, Tom was presented with a gift of $1,400 to replace the lens. The donations were presented by the high school students.
