Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is being celebrated at the elementary the week of May 5, 2025. The PTSO is having a fun Dessert Day on Wednesday May 7. We are looking for dessert or sweet treat donations for our staff to pick up to remind them that we think they are PRETTY SWEET! We will take whatever you bring, homebaked or store bought. If doing muffins, cupcakes or cookies please package in 1 dozen quantities. Pies and cakes also welcome. If your specialty is making giant items, half dozen is probably great. Really it's your choice. Items can be dropped off to the elementary office Monday May 5 or Tuesday May 6 during school (or a.m. Wedneday if needed). Feel free to message if you need help coordinating drop off. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090A45AAA82FA5F49-56391966-teacher

Hello Saranac Elementary families! Now that spring is in the air, the students will be participating in the Mileage Club starting the week of April 21. Walking, jogging, and running are great ways to promote physical and mental health. As students come to PE, weather permitting, they will spend a portion of their time walking and jogging laps around the school or track. All the miles will be recorded, and students can earn prizes for every five miles they run. 5 Miles = Shoelace and toe token 10 Miles = Toe Token 15 Miles = Toe Token 20 Miles = Shoelace, Toe token, and water bottle The school will also host family nights at the track. Those dates will be posted soon.

Saranac Elementary is hosting law enforcement for ALICE training. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Law enforcement works with our district to provide appropriate training to staff and students. We are grateful for their partnership. You will see a police training presence on campus on April 7th and 8th.

Hello Junior-Senior High School Parents, There is a dental program coming to Saranac Community Schools this year which will bring comprehensive dental care to our school (complete exam, X-rays, cleaning, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, and other basic restorative care) for all children 18mo-18yr that are covered by Medicaid/Chip programs. This dental program requires a consent form to be filled out and signed which will be coming home with your students this week. You can turn this into Nurse Karah at school OR use the QR code to fill it out online OR visit the website www.MySchoolDentist.com . The Dental team is scheduled to be here May 2, pending we have at least 15 students who qualify with consent sheets. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse at kkornoely@saranacschools.org OR at 616-642-1263. Thank you!

This year, Saranac Elementary students raised $6,740.22 for the American Heart Association. Over the last six years, the school has donated over $30,000 to the AHA. Multiple organizations in the state of Michigan receive funds from the AHA to further research and develop new procedures to help people. This only goes to highlight the kindness and giving spirit of our school, staff, and community members! Thank you, Tami Wernett, staff, and all our students for their continued support.

On the first day of the MyWay wrestling state finals, Saranac had a great showing from the wrestling team. Faith Witt and Addison Roberts represented the school well in the girls division. Aiden Bussell and Whyatt Hicks both went 1-2 coming, one match from placement, and Gabe Webb finished with the highest MyWay placement of any Saranac High School wrestler. He finished his tournament with a 5-1 record and a 3rd place finish. The middle school wrestlers will be in action on Friday and Saturday.
