Monday evening, the JSH hosted a middle school choir concert for the first time in years. Dawn Peterson and Matt Stauffer led the 6th and 7th grade choirs in fall and winter songs. It was great to hear the results of the hard work the girls have put in. The hope is to grow this group into a high school choir in years to come,
Preschool is a proven investment for the future of Michigan. Children who attend pre-K are more likely to be eager to learn, read by the third grade, and attend higher education. Free pre-K also gives families money to allocate to rent, transportation, and college savings and attracts employers seeking to expand or relocate to Michigan by giving parents more safe, affordable options for their kids.

All SCS athletic events scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5th have been cancelled. Varsity practices only may be scheduled and shared with athletes at coaches' discretion.

Thank you very much to Mrs. Mutschler, Salome, Makenna, Rowan, and Valeria for starting the holiday decorating by putting up the tree in the commons area. With snowflake mobiles going up, lights in the hallway, and locker decorating after Thanksgiving, the building will look very festive soon. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Please join me in welcoming Kellan Smith to Saranac Community Schools. Kellan has been hired to serve as a recess para at the elementary school. Kellan will also continue to fill in as a substitute teacher K-12 and will serve as our varsity boys' basketball coach starting this winter season. Kellan is close to completing a degree in social work. Please join me in welcoming Kellan Smith to the Saranac Community Schools family.

Parents,
Students who are in the building after 3:00 PM must be with a coach or staff member. A staffed lab is open until 3:45 daily.
Students should not stay after school to wait for a late practice or game departure unless a coach is here to supervise the students. Coaches should arrive in time to supervise players arriving before bus departures. Parents, please do not drop your students off earlier than 15 minutes before bus departure. For home games, coaches should direct athletes to arrive at a time when a coach will be here to supervise them.
At no time should elementary siblings be at the JSH to "watch practices" or wait until an older sibling is finished with practice.
This is a safety concern, as there is no supervision scheduled in the building for unaccompanied students after 3:45 PM.

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team, who defeated Delton-Kellogg last night in the opening round of district playoff action! The lady RedHawks will now face Potterville in the district semi-finals Wednesday at 7:00 PM at Potterville High School.
Please join me in welcoming Rachael Alexander to Saranac Community Schools. Rachael will serve as a special education para-professional at the elementary school.
Rachael is a graduate of Lowell High School and Great Lakes EMS Academy. She has two boys who attend Saranac Elementary. They have a small hobby farm where we take care of many rescue animals. Her passions are working with people/children and animals, volunteering at church, and being outdoors.
Welcome Rachael to the Saranac Community Schools family.
