Parents,
Students who are in the building after 3:00 PM must be with a coach or staff member. A staffed lab is open until 3:45 daily.
Students should not stay after school to wait for a late practice or game departure unless a coach is here to supervise the students. Coaches should arrive in time to supervise players arriving before bus departures. Parents, please do not drop your students off earlier than 15 minutes before bus departure. For home games, coaches should direct athletes to arrive at a time when a coach will be here to supervise them.
At no time should elementary siblings be at the JSH to "watch practices" or wait until an older sibling is finished with practice.
This is a safety concern, as there is no supervision scheduled in the building for unaccompanied students after 3:45 PM.

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team, who defeated Delton-Kellogg last night in the opening round of district playoff action! The lady RedHawks will now face Potterville in the district semi-finals Wednesday at 7:00 PM at Potterville High School.
Families, are you interested in hosting a current exchange student for second semester only? We have a student currently attending Saranac, who was initially only slated to stay for the first semester, but is now looking to stay through the end of the year. Mrs. Young, Mrs. Dahms, and members of the Saranac FFA are currently at the National Convention in Indianapolis, IN. The groups is seen below posing at the New Holland Farm of the Future exhibit.
Congratulations to Mr. Stauffer and the Saranac Band, who had six students selected to participate in the Calvin College High School Honors Band on October 23rd. Gabe Bangert, Sean Assaf, Bryson Randall, Jonas Wells, Marisa Klahn and Sam Ryan (alternate) will all perform that evening. Great job!
Parent Teacher Conferences for the JSH will be held Tuesday, October 15th and Wednesday October 16th from 3:30 PM to 7:15 PM. Conferences will be by scheduled appointment from 3:30 to 6:15 PM. From 6:15 to 7:15 PM, conferences will be drop-in only.

Parents, when dropping off students before school or picking students up after school, please use the lot on the backside of the building (off Otto Laabs Lane). In order to keep students safe, the front lot is reserved for bus traffic from 7:15 to 7:40 AM and 2:40 to 3:00 PM. Thank you very much!
The FFA will be having the last apple sale of the year next Tuesday, October 1st from 3-4pm in the west parking lot of the Jr/Sr High. They will be selling Jonagolds which are an excellent eating and baking apple. 10 pound bags are $7.50 and 20 pound bags are $15. The apples are grown at the MSU AgBioResearch Center in Clarksville. Enjoy and support the club :)

The Saranac FFA will once again be selling Gala apples Thursday, September 12 from 2-4pm in the west parking lot of the Jr/Sr High. Look for the red trailer. 20 pounds for $15 and 10 pounds for $7.50
SCS, along with other organizations state-wide, is experiencing internet and phone connectivity issues. If you cannot reach a building office by phone, please try sending an email. Responses will come as service allows. Thank you for your patience.
The JSH kitchen is dealing with some issues with our main freezer. This may result in some lunch changes. Today will be Chicken Patty on a Bun with the works, Fries, and Fruits. Friday is going to change to 3-Meat Subs, Fruit and Veggies and we will be adding a Bag of Chips. Lunches may change for the next week or so depending on the ETA of the freezer getting fixed.

As part of our partnership with Ionia County Health Department Substance Abuse Initiative, we are handing out free marijuana-storage lock-boxes to parents to help prevent underage access to products that contain THC. These boxes are available in the JSH office. We will also have these available at JSH events.
Thank you very much to our JSH parents! Your generous donations to the Alternative Fundraiser have raised over $2,600 for student activities since school started Monday. This money is used for student activities, t-shirts, incentives and celebrations.
