Saranac Athletics is proud to introduce our new varsity volleyball coach Samantha (Samee) Teachworth. Samee is a 2020 graduate of Portland St Patrick where she played Volleyball, basketball and softball. Throughout high school, Samee was heavily involved in 4H, FFA, National Honor society, and is an MHSAA Scholar Athlete award winner. After high school, she attended Aquinas College to study business administration and communications while playing volleyball for five seasons. During three of the five volleyball seasons, her team made it to the national championship tournament, playing against the top teams in the country. Her senior season, Samee was named a team captain. In the summer, Samee worked with her family's field tile business and ran youth volleyball camps. Samee currently plays semi-pro volleyball for the West Michigan Queens.
I asked Samee what drew her to this position, her answer sums it up nicely. "Volleyball has given me so much, from travelling to places like California, Oregon, Iowa and even as far as Costa Rica to play. I couldn't be more thankful for those experiences. Now I'm ready to take the next step in my volleyball journey by stepping into coaching. I'm beyond excited to stay local and am looking forward to seeing Saranac Volleyball grow and develop in the upcoming seasons."
