Our board is very pleased to announce Mr. Jason Smith as our incoming superintendent of schools, set to begin his term July 1st, pending final contract negotiations. Mr. Smith’s promotion from elementary principal to interim superintendent was unanimously approved at our regularly scheduled meeting on April 20.

Mr. Smith is a longtime Saranac resident and has dedicated the past 17 years to our schools, filling the roles of teacher, coach, athletic director, and is currently completing his 11th year as principal. He and wife Stephanie have two sons who attend Saranac schools.

Mr. Smith brings a deep community connection to this role, including key relationships and a drive to reach out and work hand-in-hand with our staff, parents and community to move our district forward during these challenging financial times.

The designation as “interim” superintendent for school year 2017-2018 will allow our board and Mr. Smith the opportunity to evaluate progress toward goals throughout the year. It is our hope that this is the beginning of a long relationship and we look forward to working closely with Mr. Smith as we begin planning and preparations for our next school year.

We appreciate your support of our district and encourage you join us in congratulating Mr. Jason Smith on his new role.
